Mission: To support children through and beyond their parent's cancer with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community.
Vision: To ensure that every child touched by a parent's cancer is never alone.
About Camp Kesem: Camp Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. A program of Kesem, Camp Kesem operates over 70 free summer camps in 34 states for children ages 6 to 16 who have been touched by a parent’s cancer. This camping experience has a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence and strengthens their communication skills. In 2015, Camp Kesem served over 5,000 children coast-to-coast - all funded by generous donations from individuals and corporate support.
About Us: Camp Kesem at University of Richmond was founded in 2009 and supports children in the Richmond community by providing a week-long summer camp experience and year-long peer support. Camp Kesem at University of Richmond is operated by 40 student volunteers and serves 80 campers ages 6-16 per year.
In 2016, the Richmonnd chapter had Make the Magic for the very first time! The event was a success with 45 guests in attendence. They enjoyed a silent auction, fund-a-need station, photobooth fun, and dinner program with a camper family and counselor.
Our chapter is super excited to host our second annual Make the Magic! Join us for a night of magic and support an extroidinary cause.
